SARACENS AMATEUR RFC

WEEKEND 28th/29th SEPTEMBER – NEWS UPDATE
A little late as I have been away plundering and looting down West, but here is the news from last weekend.
It was a very busy weekend at the Club, with 2 home games on Saturday and on Sunday, most Age Groups either were training, or had matches at home. Saturday saw Saracens get their second win of the league season with a great bonus point win over The Bank of England 44-17. The Crusaders had a home walk over against UCSOB RFC, but it was good to see those USCOB players who were at the Club, combining with our guys to at least get some rugby played.
Sunday was very busy at the Club, with the Minis having an all Age Group training session with OGs. This was done last season as well, and was a great event again, well received by both Clubs. Well done Rob and Steve.
The U17s Infidels were playing OGs in a league fixture on the Main pitch…. which would have softened up a bit from previous weeks!!....and recorded a good win 70-5. The other U17/Colts side played a friendly away at Thurrock and they too came away with a 8-15 win. This is boding well for our Colts set up now established at the Club. Well done to all players and coaches for that. The U16s were also playing away in the league at OAs, but were unable to come away with a win against OAs who are a very strong side at that level. Back to Bramley Road, where on Pitch 2 our U15s recorded a convincing 57-3 win in a friendly against Tring. The U14s were away in a league game against Letchworth RFC, which they won 36-5. All of these games show that we play some good rugby across all the Age Groups and we will get losses as well as wins, but they can be learnt from, with the main aim being that we are getting boys and girls playing and enjoying rugby.
The U13s also had 2 games on Sunday, one at home in a friendly against Hackney and one away in a Pool game against Bishops Stortford RFC. Thanks to Karim for match updates from both games below. It certainly is evident from this and Karim’s comments from previous weeks that the boys have been enjoying their rugby this season…. keep it up.
‘‘Our first pool game of the season with the players having their first junior rugby experience – Changing rooms, post match uniforms etc.
Our A team were away at Bishop’s Stortford and won 5-2 in a fantastic natured game with both sides taking a lot of good points from the game. (Post match photo attached)
The B team hosted Hackney and were well beaten 10-0, Hackney had a couple of exceptional runners who highlighted the weakness in our backs, although our forwards put together a great showing at the scrums and rucks.’
There are no senior games at the Club next weekend, but the world Cup will continue in Japan with games being shown on Saturday and Sunday. Most of the Minis are away at the Henley Festival on Sunday.
