Thank you Graham Warne for another news round up.

SARACENS AMATEUR RFC

WEEKEND 5th/6th OCTOBER – NEWS UPDATE
This week saw the Minis taking part in their first festival of the season, with a couple of Junior Age Group matches and some good training sessions.
The Colts were playing a non-league game against local rivals Finchley RFC. We had put out a strong side with full official representation from London Society of Referees, providing referee and 2 touch judges……thank you Gerry and Tom and your colleague. Saracens started very strong and were playing attractive rugby and making use of the large area that is the main pitch. We were controlling the game for most of the match, and with 10 minutes to go it was 10 all. Finchley then had a run up our right wing and came away with a score that was converted and won the game 10-17. That should not detract from our performance. The Finchley side had grown through their ranks and had played together for about 6 years, whilst our guys have been together in our Colts for 6 weeks. There can only be better performances ahead, as the coaching and the boys gel.
The U15s played a friendly against Hertford where both Clubs agreed to play sessions to maximise playing time for the whole squads from both Clubs. Again, we were playing good rugby and at this stage of the season, a result of a 61-12 win is very encouraging. Similarly, although I have not had any feedback on the match, our U14s were playing away at Kilburn and recorded a 14-49 victory.
The U12s were playing in a triangular tournament at Ealing, which I believe was enjoyable and the rugby of a good standard with a good atmosphere. The remaining Mini Age Groups played in their first festival at Henley, which as always was well run and it seems if they were lucky with the weather as well. From the feedback that I have had, all Age Groups had a good time, especially the U6/7s who were experiencing their first festival. I have given below some feedback from the U11s…. thanks John…...which I think reiterates my comments.
‘’Here are the results for U11s at Henley Festival:
Marlow 1-1
Amersham 2 2-2
Drifters 2-1
Rams 4-1
Henley 5-1
The team displayed superb passing and did not relent in their defensive efforts. There was some good communication throughout the matches.
The players really responded to the coaches’ feedback in their later games. Well done everyone.’’
We do have the Club AGM next week on Wednesday 16th October at 7-30 PM.
Oh yes…….…...and on the other side of the world, the World Cup continued.
